Cloud Range Reconnaissance: Mapping Production, Staging, and Abandoned Assets
Over recent operational logs we conducted a structured external reconnaissance pass across roughly 115 unique IPs. The work clustered into several distinct groups that illustrate the typical mix of live production systems, residual infrastructure, and abandoned assets found in large cloud and hosting ranges.
Turkish Hosting
One early focus was a Turkish shared-hosting environment centered on 104.247.165.210. The host presented a complete mail and web stack (Pure-FTPd, Dovecot, Exim, MySQL, LiteSpeed) along with reverse-DNS and subdomain activity tied to
. This represented a conventional, fully populated commercial hosting footprint.
Proxy and Tunneling Layer
A separate set of addresses exposed SOCKS5 listeners and HTTP proxies that required authentication. Short-lived TLS certificates and minimal path responses on non-standard ports suggested infrastructure intended for tunneling or intermediary use rather than public web services.
Laos-Linked Cluster
A small group of domains resolving to the same Tencent address presented Chinese-language medical aesthetics and used-car platforms that claimed a Laos presence. Public footprint was thin, SSL configurations were inconsistent, and the sites appeared lightly maintained.
Tencent Cloud Ranges
The largest volume of addresses fell into Tencent/Aceville space. Most hosts were tightly filtered. The minority that answered revealed a clearer pattern of mixed use:
- An Nginx Proxy Manager interface on port 81
- A live Next.js application under `/arena`
- Authenticated proxies on high ports
- Multiple Windows RDP services using internal-style hostnames
- Leftover certificates still valid for commercial brands spanning West Africa (GENIEX eSIM) and Southeast Asia (Indonesian game/entertainment branding and a Vietnamese Dragon Raja title still served by aging Jetty)
Across these clusters the same themes recurred: valid certificates on hosts that no longer served their original purpose, management interfaces left reachable, and legacy services that had outlived their operational need. The mapping continues to highlight residual attack surface that sits quietly alongside active production systems.
